Big Bear Lake Song Festival

The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley has collaborated with the School of Music from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and will participate in the second annual Big Bear Lake Song Festival, June 6-12, 2010.

The Song Festival brings to the Valley classically trained vocalists currently studying voice at various Universities on the west coast.  They will participate in five days of coaching, Master Classes and private lessons by expert faculty from Arizona State, Colorado State University, Ft. Collins Symphony, Kansas City Conservatory of Music at University of Missouri, Scripps College, Southern Utah University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and University of California, Irvine. Dr. Tod Fitzpatrick, Associate Professor of Music at UNLV has enlisted some of the best vocal talent in the country to conduct classes with the students.  Classes will be held at the Knickerbocker Mansion, Northwoods Resort and the Performing Arts Center.

The public can enjoy recitals free of charge during the week long Festival, the first of which will take place on Sunday, June 6th at 4:00 p.m. at the beautiful Knickerbocker Mansion.   The concert will include performances by the talented Song Festival faculty, with special guest appearances by Arts Council Member Artists, Diane Sloan, Soprano and Barbara King, Pianist.  Following the June 6th performance at the Knickerbocker Mansion, dinner will be served in the beautiful dining room for those who wish to enjoy a wonderful dinner after the performance.
