What the Wise Men Saw – What was
the Star-Of-Bethlehem? On Dec. 8th
At 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December
8th, the Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society will present their annual
holiday presentation, "What the Wise Men Saw" at StarGazers Inn &
Observatory, 717 Jeffries Road, in Big Bear Lake (behind the Middle School).
Research into historical records
seems to indicate that meteors, comets and novae, which would have been
recorded by many, were not the cause of the “Star”. So what caused three
astronomical and astrological experts to set out on a long journey to Israel
in search of the birth of a king? Most would not even have noticed the
events occurring in the night skies. A good clue can be seen in the motion
of the planets and where and when in the night sky these unusual motions
occurred.
During the presentation, John Day
will map nine key Biblical criteria to astronomical events over a period of
several years that could have led to the Magi’s journey to Bethlehem. The
presentation is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended as
seating is limited.
The public is also invited to enjoy
StarGazers' Holiday Lights and Meditation Labyrinth of Lights from 5:00 p.m.
to 10:00 p.m. daily. Donations to Kiwanis Toys for Tots, Canned Food, and
Money Tree to benefit our mountain communities are appreciated. Please call
909-878-4496 for more information and for reservations.
