BIG BEAR LAKE- the Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society (BBVRSI) is asking for
contest entries for the “Big Bear Pirate Faire” contest by May 15, 2007.
Any student from any kind of school, public, private or home school may enter
the contest. Scholarships run from $25 to $500 for contest winners; broken down
into the following categories:
Kindergarten – draw a picture of ‘A Pirate’. First prize is
$25 scholarship.
1st to 3rd grade – minimum 100 word essay on ‘Your Favorite
thing about pirates’. First prize is a $50 scholarship.
4th to 6th grade – minimum 200 word essay on ‘The pirate
Henry Morgan’. First prize is a $50 scholarship.
7th to 8th grade – minimum 500 word essay on ‘The pirate Anne
Bonny’. First prize is a $250 scholarship.
9th to 12th grade – minimum 500 word essay on ‘The pirate
Hippolyte de Bouchard’. First prize is $500 scholarship.
All entries become the property of the BBVRSI and will be returned to the
entrant only if accompanied by a self addressed, stamped envelope.
Winners will be announced at the Big Bear Pirate Faire on June 2, 2007. The top
five in each category will be notified and tickets will be provided for those
students and one adult. We will ask that each student read their essay for the
final judging.
