At approximately 6:30 p.m. on
July 1, 2008, the Big Bear City Fire Department received a 9-1-1 report
of a fire in the 900 block of Wilderness Drive in the Meadowbrook
Estates area. Upon arrival of fire crews, heavy smoke was visible with
fire in the brush and trees, next to a septic tank and backhoe.
The fire was quickly
extinguished containing the fire to a 50’x50’ spot, with no damage to
the backhoe. The fire occurred in the front portion of the property
where there is a house under construction. No damage to the house
occurred. The cause is currently under investigation.
